Liza Hawkins - Interim Director of Youth and Children's Ministry

Liza Hawkins was born and raised in Murfreesboro, TN. Growing up at Advent Lutheran in Murfreesboro, she has a long history of involvement in youth ministry in the synod. She has previously served in campus ministry at Texas Christian University, at Tyson House at the University of Tennessee, and as the Program Director of WOW Urban Ministry in Knoxville, TN.

 

Liza holds a BA in Psychology and Human Services from Carson-Newman University, and she received her M.Div with a concentration in History, Theology, and Ethics from Brite Divinity School in May of 2020. She is a candidate for Word and Sacrament ministry, and she is currently pursuing a Master of Sacred Theology at United Lutheran Seminary.

 

Liza’s favorite synod event is AFFIRM, where she has served as the Unit Director for the Bridges unit. She was also the youth chair of the SESLYO board once upon a time, also. Liza is especially passionate about intentional inclusion and celebration of all people in the life of the Church, and she is excited to be a part of the life of St. Andrew!
