Katherine Mansouri - Children's Youth Music Director
A native of Huntington, WV and lifelong Lutheran, Katherine Becker Mansouri is Children’s Youth Music Director at St. Andrew. She has been an active member of St. Andrew since she and her husband Bijan and their three children – David, Sarah and Michael - moved to Brentwood in 1992. She grew up in a family of musicians, taking violin and piano lessons and singing in the church choir.
Katherine is also founder and director of Brentwood Suzuki Strings, teaching private and group violin lessons. Previously she taught on the Suzuki String faculty at University of Tennessee in Memphis and most recently at the Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from West Virginia University and a Master of Music degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She is a member of Choristers Guild and has
served on the board of the local chapter. She has participated in adult and children’s choir workshops and Choristers Guild Children’s Choir Festivals. She is a member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association), NAMTA (Nashville Area Music Teachers Association), TMTA (Tennessee Music Teachers Association), and SAA (Suzuki Association of the Americas).
Along with loving to teach, sing, and play the violin, Katherine enjoys spending time with her family, walking, reading, hiking, biking, and traveling.
