Pastor Michael Lippard
Michael Lippard grew up in North Carolina, worked at Lutheridge as a camp counselor for four summers, and graduated from Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C., with an A.B. in Religion in 1974. After graduating from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, Columbia, S.C., in 1978 (M.Div.) and ordination in the North Carolina Synod of the Lutheran Church in America, Pastor Lippard served LCA/ELCA congregations in Virginia and West Virginia. In 1994, he completed a three-year clinical training program in pastoral psychotherapy in the Washington, D.C. area. The following year, he was called to a ministry of pastoral counseling in Tupelo, MS, and in 1998, graduated from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL, with a D.Min. in Pastoral Counseling & Psychotherapy. Pastor Lippard is a Fellow of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and was a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Mississippi. He became St. Andrew’s third called pastor in 2008.
Pastor Lippard is married to another ELCA pastor, the Rev. Susan Springer. Their daughter, Emily, lives in and works in Washington, D.C. Younger daughter, Hannah, is in graduate school in England.
Pastor Lippard enjoys many outdoor activities: taking walks, hiking, tossing a Frisbee, bird-watching, and playing disc golf. He also enjoys reading, watching college basketball and football, visiting with family and friends, singing, playing and listening to music, and traveling.
